Privacy Policy

LetterDesk is built to handle your most sensitive mail without collecting your life. The short version: your photos stay on your phone, there is no account, and the only thing that leaves your device is the text of a letter you choose to have read.

What stays on your device

Every scanned photo and page image is stored only on your iPhone, and on your Mac if you pair one. Your archive, your categories, your tags, and your notes live on your devices. LetterDesk does not upload your photos and does not keep a copy of them on any server.

What is sent, and why

To read a letter, LetterDesk sends the text of that letter to its reading service so it can return the summary, the facts, and the category. This text is used only to produce that result and is not sold, shared, or used to build a profile of you. Scanning and filing on your device do not require any network connection.

No account, minimal data

There is no sign up and no login. LetterDesk does not ask for your name, your email, or your contacts. Subscriptions are processed by Apple, and LetterDesk receives only what Apple provides to confirm that a subscription is active. It never sees your payment details.

Sync between your devices

When you pair a Mac, sync happens directly between your iPhone and your Mac over your home Wi-Fi, secured by a key created when you pair. Your mail does not pass through a LetterDesk server to keep your devices in step.

Backup, on Premium

If you turn on encrypted backup with Premium, your archive is backed up to your own iCloud account, encrypted. It is your iCloud and your key. LetterDesk cannot read your backup.

Your control

You can delete any letter, empty your Recently Deleted, and export your archive at any time. Deleting the app removes the archive from that device.

Children

LetterDesk is intended for adults managing their own mail and is not directed at children.

Changes and contact

If this policy changes in a meaningful way, the updated date above will change and the new terms will be posted here. Questions about privacy can be sent through our support page.
